Last month, the first batch of women micro-entrepreneurs received the digital token loans for safa tempo (three-wheeler electric minibus) driving training. This was done in collaboration with Mahila Sahayatra Laghubitta Bittya Sanstha who provided the loans through our technology. For the first batch, eight micro-entrepreneurs received the loan amount NPR. 40,000 out of which NPR. 35,000 went through digital tokens. As per our data, the token loan has been received by our pre-vetted vendor and has also been redeemed from the micro-finance. This cycle of digital token loans has decreased a lot of burden for micro-entrepreneurs, vendors, and microfinance.
In no time these powerful, women micro-entrepreneurs will be driving their safa tempos on the road and will start making an income for themselves on their terms. The first batch was only the beginning of many more loan disbursements in the future to accelerate the women micro-entrepreneurship scene in Nepal.
When our team asked a women micro-entrepreneur if she would continue her daily job after receiving the safa tempo driving training, she replied, “ No, I won’t but until I learn driving I will have to rely on this job to support my children but after I get the training I will not continue working for other”. With our efforts, we aim to give the women micro-entrepreneurs more digital token loans they require for their business.
